Putting a new SPIN on energy generation
Ted Thomas and his Home Energy USA team, based in Seattle WA, have successfully installed the first two Energy Ball V100′s which are being used to harvest vented air on top of the Olive 8 high-rise.
Using the 24/7 air vent the Energy Ball’s are operating continuously at a very high power, thereby generating far more energy than ever could be expected from a general open field installation.
With this initial installation Home Energy USA has made a huge impact in creating a conversation amongst building managers and showing them how their buildings can be more energy efficient. Home Energy USA is already securing multiple other high-rise projects.
Home Energy International congratulates Home Energy USA with this first vented air project and looks forward to seeing more Energy Ball’s being used to harvest vented air.

Home Energy Streetlight @ Amsterdam ArenA (home of Ajax)
Home Energy proudly presents the installation of 6 Streetlights at the Amsterdam Arena (the home of soccer club Ajax). On Tuesday November 8th, the 6 masts has been succesfully put into operation to produce the first sustainable energy out of both wind and sun. On the mast an Energy Ball V200 and Solar Power photopholtaic panels are mounted to produce electricity of which only a small part is used to power the LED lights also mounted to the mast. All the other energy is delivered directly to the grid.
Amsterdam ArenA, the largest stadium in the Netherlands for football, live concerts, entertainment and business events, has today given the green light for the modernization and extension of the Main Building. The aims of this major operation are to improve the Main Building’s accessibility and safety as well as the ease of finding one’s way around it, to boost quality and extend the hospitality rooms and to make the stadium’s equipment more sustainable. This modernization and extension constitutes the biggest and most ambitious project since the stadium’s opening in 1996. The overall investment comes to around € 20 million. The project is scheduled to complete in the summer of 2012.
Sustainability
This modernization of the Main Building will see Amsterdam ArenA fulfilling half of the objectives for a climate-neutral stadium by 2015. Thus the measures relating to equipment are being combined with a new building management system which allows the energy flows for each room to be monitored and controlled centrally. Less heating or cooling is necessary due to state-of-the-art technology.
CO2 emissions are being halved by means of energy-saving measures. The remaining emissions are compensated by the latest generation of roof-mounted solar panels and our very own windmill. Amsterdam ArenA will even be an energy producer in off-peak periods. Packaging materials are being reduced, separated and recycled. On balance, Amsterdam ArenA will no longer emit a single gram of CO2 in 2015. The official start of the modernization process today will make a considerable contribution to the stadium’s image as the sustainable showpiece of Amsterdam.

De Vlinder Elektrotechniek in the Netherlands represented by Ingeborg van Stijn-van Leeuwen and Jan Leeuwenhoek joint the course to learn about the Solar Power photovoltaic panels, the Energy Ball and the Streetlight. We are proud to have a new dealer representing Home Energy in Zuid Holland. For the total course we have welcomed from Germany the director of Loft-net Benny Andersson with his employee Konrad and owner of the company Team Profile, Reimund Buschleb. First sustainable church The Netherlands powered by Home Energy
The protestant church in Schoondijke, The Netherlands, is the first church in the Netherlands which is powered by Solar Power modules from Home Energy. With the installation of a total of 5760 Wp (24 x 240 Wp modules) the church is able to generate almost enough energy to be completely self-supporting. With this installation the church clearly expresses her sustainable character.
Besides the large installation on top of the church, the church members are also asked to invest in small scale d-i-y Solar Power systems. Home Energy composed a special 675 Wp package for the church members and offers, for every 10 packages sold, one package for charity.
The images below show the wonderful result: the Solar Power installation clearly shows that the church in Schoondijke clearly is a nationwide leader in sustainability!
